Day 26

Welcome to DAY 26 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

Lets start with stats – my weight today – ermmm I didn't get on the scales I'm afraid!!! This was mainly due to mum having a lady come visit early this morning so dad was rushing to get the other birds outside and as I was being extremely vocal I was fed!! Hey – all I have to do is yell and I get fed – if only!!! I'd love to think that was the case but dad doesn't work that way!!!

As for food – I have had 2 large mice and 3 chicks – it seems the days of dad chopping the food up are well and truly over now....

We had a visit today from a lovely lady – ANN - who actually came to see me the day after I arrived in Hull – she tool lots of amazing piccies that day and when you see today's you will be blown away for sure!!!

When Ann pulled up she was all excited when she actually realised it was me on the glove out in the street with dad – I think it took a few moments for it to sink in just how I had grown....

Immediately her super duper camera was out and she was taking photograph after photograph – dad loved it as he had a chance to show off too – people don't believe I am so gentle that you can rub noses with me – check the piccies for proof....

I was out in the street with dad while he chatted away to Ann's friend Martin and then a neighbour Steve – think on that occasion we were out around an hour – its great fun – and only when I am on the glove can I actually spread my wings for a lovely s t r e t c h ! ! !

Oh and this afternoon I scared mum – she actually swore!!! I was plodding around in the dining room but it would seem mum wasn't aware of that, so she came downstairs from her craft room to go sit with dad who she thought was in the living room, so turned off the stairs and I sort of ran and jumped and pecked her toes!!! It was such good fun...even mum laughed once she calmed down....

Right here are the photographs, please enjoy – and feel free to leave a comment!!!!

Until the next time.....

Day 25

Welcome to DAY 25 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

Lets start with stats – my weight today was 2lb 5oz – it has been around the same mark for several days now – but as I only produce a cast every other day I suppose it is to be expected...

Sadly I cant yet say how much I have eaten today as dad hasn't updated us yet...but I am eating full chicks now – gone are the baby days/baby ways of chopping them up!! And I am on to bigger mice too,,,,

I know I didn't bother sharing any info yesterday but to be honest at the moment every day is much the same so its not worth boring you all with the same things...and nobody had thought to take any photos either...

Today is much the same too....mum has just popped down to me and taken a few piccies and a video so you can see something different!

My daily routine now consists of weighing at the start of the day, then I get to run about the dining room while dad cleans out my box...then I have a snooze – its a hard life being a young Bengal Eagle Owl you know...

Then dad gets his glove and that means walk about time...today was lovely out – bright and sunny again – so I did enjoy the short walk about we did,...the kids are all back at school so its a lot quieter and we get to walk about in peace...

Home and another snooze....
In between the walks and the snoozes I have yummy chicks and mice....

So depending on the weather, I am going outside on the glove 2 to 4 times a day – and I love it!!! I can actually sit on that glove and have a huge big s t r e t c h of my wings!!!

Right folks – yet again you have been short changed – sorry...

Until the next time.....

Day 23

Welcome to DAY 23 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

Lets start with stats – my weight today was 2lb 4 oz so I have lost some weight since yesterday but I have produced the biggest cast so that explains my lack of appetite and the weight loss. As for food – its not been that many – I think around 5 chicks....

I have been out and about again today on the glove – the wind had dropped and the sun was out so dad and I had a walk about – people point and do those double takes still – but I wonder if its cos I am growing at an alarming rate – even people that saw me just a few days ago mention I have grown....

Have to say I hear mum go on and on about the sun and haw she cant wait for it – after been out in it several times through the day I know what she means – its lovely!!!

Had quite a treat this evening too – dad actually took me in my big box into the living room with the him, mum and those 2 big dogs – hah – they both wandered over all tough, poked there wet noses in my box to have a look – and I got em.... bet they wont be back again in a hurry....just letting everyone know – I am the boss!!!!

Had visitors galore today – and they all have to walk past my box – and none can resist giving me a stroke – Paula came first and boy is she a scared one – every time I lifted my head she jumped saying she was scared I was going to bite her – mum did persuade her to put her hand in and she really was shocked at how gentle I was with her – yes I have a nibble but it more like a tickle....so she was happy....one day I'll have her....

And we had Pat – I know of Pat from mums class – think she had to stand on tip toes to reach over the box...I think if I stand on the tips of my talons and stretch I would be around the same height lol but she did give me a good fuss over!!!

Sorry but no photographs today....mum has been so busy reorganising her craft space she hasn't been down to take any photos and dad just doesn't ever thing about it...but never mind...this once!!!

See you tomorrow then.... x

Day 22

Welcome to DAY 22 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

Lets start with stats – my weight today was 2lb 5 1/8th oz so I have finally gained a small amount – as for food – I have had an off day so up to now – 9pm – I have only had 3 chicks – this is mainly because I haven't yet produced my cast – but dad is hopeful it will happen shortly then I will have at least another 2 or 3 chicks before bedtime.

I have been out and about again today on the glove – the wind had dropped considerably so dad and I had a walk about – people point and do those double takes still – but I wonder if its cos I am growing at an alarming rate – even people that saw me just a few days ago mention I have grown....

Mum chuckled when dad and I returned from one of the walks – dad stood with me on the glove – mum got the camera and took a photo of me looking longingly into my big box – she clicked and I jumped – ahhh home again!!!

I suppose its like you people – you go out and about and once home you just want your own chair and 5 mins peace and quiet – well so do I!!!!

Mum had a friend call round today – she popped her head over the box and said hello but she obviously wasn't a birdie person as she didn't attempt to touch me,...have to say these people are few and far between.

Mum was cooking dinner and she just kept looking over at me – I was sprawled out, my legs sticking out behind me, and my head resting on my soft toys – I was just letting me eyes follow everything mum was doing – I thought it was fun – she thought I was acting pretty dim....

She took a piccy of me through my box – looking at that you can see how little I actually do see when in the box...

That's about it again peeps – sorry!!!

See you tomorrow – and please don't give up as pretty soon there will be loads to report back to you daily!!!

Day 21

Welcome to DAY 21 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

Lets start with stats – my weight has remained the same for 3 days now...so I am 2lb 3oz and have so far eaten 7 chicks – the news on that is I am now feeding myself so that means eating whole chicks! Mum is so relieved as she hates seeing dad prepare the food – we all know its nature but some people just don't cope well with it!

Dad is still training me on the glove – I go on his fist or the glove whatever you wish to call it – every couple of hours – dad is so patient with me, and I must admit its pretty good sat there – I'm so much higher so can see everything around me!

We did set off for a walk but I have decided I don't do windy weather!!! Although it was bright and sunny and not even cold today there was quite a breeze and it throws me – so dad brought me home again....shame really cos like I said, I do enjoy it!

I have had my walk about too – dad puts me on the floor and I just walk around after him – I never seem to be more than a few steps from him...just like a shadow!!!

Mum came into the kitchen mid afternoon and saw me leaning a long way over the side of my box – she laughed and made some silly comment like was I looking at committing harry carry...mm mm don’t think she fully understands I am still a baby owl – who doesn't understand the English language – or the slang for it!!

Only a few minutes later dad came down and shouted to mum to come quickly – she opened the living room door to find me happily walking around the dining room – I decided I wanted a leg stretch so jumped over board! Yes I know my box was actually sat on the kitchen worktop so pretty high up – but I just closed my eyes, ran, jumped and had a little flap of my wings – and landed safely.... what a clever owl I am!

Downside of my adventure is dad has once again brought out the big box – I don't like it cos I cant see out of it – but I suppose she has to be sure when he goes to bed that I am safe....

Cant think of anything else to share for today – oh yes – we had a visit from Vicky & Layton this morning – and Layton just couldn't believe how big I was – he asked his grandad where was the baby bird...its not so easy trying to explain to an almost 4 year old child!

That's the lot then folks...enjoy the photo's – when you get down to the last few you may be confused by them – don't be – they just show how I get myself comfortable for sleeping – no point having a big roomy box and not sprawling out in it is there? Mum and dad constantly say they wouldn't believe a bird would lay out so much for sleeping if they didn't see it with their own eyes! I do like to shock and surprise folk lol

The photos....

Day 20

Welcome to DAY 20 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

You are going to feel really short changed AGAIN today – as I have so very little to share with you!!!

Dad is training me on the glove – so we had a walk to the community building The Roost – I did so well sitting there on the glove with the wind blowing through my feathers.

Once in the building we visited mums class and all the ladies flocked to fuss me up – they all said how beautiful I was...oh how I love the attention!!!

Then later this afternoon dad took me out on the glove again – this time we just had a walk around the block – its great fun watching people do a double take – you can see their minds working overtime – erm did I just see a big bird on that man’s hand? Surely not – then they look again and you can see it registers as yes I did!!!! Its great....
Other than that and me again wanting to climb straight back into my box instead of being free to roam – I haven't much to tell you – and to add insult – we only have 2 piccies today too!!

Your stats for today – I weighed 2lb 3oz and have so far today had 8 chicks and 2 mice – must be one of those FEED ME days today!!!

I did say the info wasn't up to much....sorry!

Day 19

Welcome to DAY 19 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

Evening everyone....

You are going to feel really short changed today – as I have so very little to share with you!!!

Dad was amused this morning – he took me out of my box in order to clean it out – and I just wanted to get back in – so I ran to it and tried jumping – with no luck I have to add...dad didn't give in – he cleaned the box, weighed me and only when he was ready did I go back....

Oh yes – he actually tossed a full chick – well almost a full chick – onto the side and I ran for it, picked it up and ate it – it was my very first attempt to feed myself – how good is that???

So with the talk of weighing and food – your daily info...
2lb 3oz and so far today I have had 7 chicks – I may get another when dad gets home....

I did say the info wasn't up to much....sorry!

And there are only a few same old same old photo's too!!!

Tuesday 21 February 2012

Day 18

Welcome to DAY 18 of the day to day living of our beautiful baby Bengal Eagle Owl

It seems to be getting later and later that you are getting to read of my days happenings – sorry – it just seems there aren't enough hours in the day to fit everything in – and I suppose that because you get my daily stats it has to be done in the evening – or maybe I could do it in the morning with stats from the day before....

But for now – this is what I've done today – Tuesday 21st February 2012...

As is normal, I was stood on the scales first thing this morning – what I didn't expect was for the camera to come out – mum came through and began snapping away so I'm hoping she managed to get at least one decent photo!!!

May as well share the stats before I move on....I weighed in at
2lb 2.1/8th that's another of those weird weights that looks wrong when written on a pc – sorry!! And by the time the lights go out I will have had 7 chicks....

Both mum and dad were out and about doing their own things today so I was home alone for some time – but once dad was back he got me out my box to play.....

I was on the floor in the dining room – oh how I love that freedom – I can run around and just plonk where it suits me....and I quite liked the look of the perch that Gizmo the Tawny Owl using when he is indoors – dad managed to take some piccies of my high jacking his frame – sshhhh just don't tell Gizmo!!!

And my main treat of the day was when dad put me on the glove – and took me out into the big wide world! He walked around in the street with me balancing on that glove for all I was worth – every ounce of concentration was needed on my part as the wind was blowing – as you people don't have feathers you wont appreciate just how drafty it was – and I was in constant fear of being blown off that glove!

I breathed a huge sigh of relief once we were back home...

Cant say I was happy when dad looked at me and said I was a good girl and we would do it all again tomorrow....

If we all keep everything crossed – he may well forget....somehow though, I doubt he will.....

And then it back to the safety of the cosy little box I call home...

Right then that's all for today folks – just the piccies for you to look through!!!!

Till next time....night....x....
